About Me
Written on April 22, 2024
A quiet corner of Bojnord, plenty of tea, and a lifelong romance with mathematics, code, and the master artist who created the universe; that’s a quite good summary of my current life situation.
I’m the sort of person who gets unreasonably happy when a Persian ligature finally renders perfectly. Nothing fancy—just someone who has been lucky enough to turn childhood curiosity into a profession.
A Few Moments I Still Smile About
- Born in spring 1982; discovered programming in 1997 and never quite recovered.
- B.Sc. Electrical Engineering – Sharif University of Technology.
- M.Sc. Communication Systems Engineering – Amirkabir University of Technology.
- Spent eight years at Hoda Systems, where I somehow got to write a
C++ MLP framework in 2010 and a national ID card reader for City Bank of Egypt.
- 2016–2018: Joined the wonderful team at Amirkabir HLT Lab and helped build the Targoman SMT translation engine.
- 2018: Together with Dr. Shahram Khadivi and a colleague, co-founded Targoman Co.
- In 2014 wrote a Ph.D. proposal (in Farsi) about Graph Signal Processing for machine translation. I partially beat you to it Ashish 😁
- 2018–2022: Pouring heart and code into Tarjomyar.ir, our human-aided translation platform. Watching translators and algorithms dance together never gets old.
- 2019: Built a RESTful NMT API on MarianNMT that, against all odds, still hums along happily.
Small Joys That Keep Me Going
- A small, yet elegant piece of code, I write
- I can play this beautiful music piece
- A simple harmonious face, I draw
- A tiny mathematical gem lets me in
